Rescue Diver Course

The PADI Rescue diver course expands your knowledge of diving, increases your level of diving skill, and makes you more aware of what is happening around you in the diving environment. This course is highly recommended as the minimum certification level for any diver. This course will bring a new confidence in not only your diving skills but also the necessary skills to possibly save someone's life including your own. In general most divers who have a Rescue Certification or higher will tell you this was their favorite dive training course.

Rescue Diver Certification is also an important prerequisite for the PADI Divemaster rating, and the distinguished PADI Master Scuba Diver Certification. Most importantly, rescue training can help you save lives and increase diving safety by preparing you to respond properly to diving emergencies and near-emergencies.

Course Prerequisites
To qualify for participation in the course, a person must be at least 15 years of age (or 12 years of age for Junior Rescue diver) and certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or Advanced Plus Diver. An individual who does not hold either of these certifications may take the course if he can prove equivalent competency. Equivalency in this case would be defined as proof of certification beyond entry level and a minimum of 20 logged dives, documenting experience in the area of deep and navigation.

Medic First Aid Training
Prior to awarding the PADI Rescue Diver rating to an individual, he must have successfully completed the PADI Medic First Aid course ( or its equivalent CPR and First Aid training) within the past three years.

Medic First Aid is a basic training course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency care. The Medic First Aid course is eight hours in length.

Topics covered include:

Primary Assessment, CPR, obstructed airway, bleeding, wounds and bandaging, shock, illness assessment, stroke, allergic reactions etc.

Course Overview
There are 12 basic scenarios to be learned in order to assist other divers as well as training in self-rescue and there is the manual to be read and a final exam consisting of 60 questions.

Topic areas include: First aid for Diving Maladies, First Aid for Marine injuries, Emergency procedures, Rescue equipment, Panic Syndrome, Distress Recognition, Self- Rescue, Rescue Entries and approaches, Transporting, Submerged Diver rescue, Missing Diver Procedures, In-water Artificial Respiration, Equipment considerations, Rescue exits etc.

At the end of the course an exam is administered.

Course Duration
The Rescue course takes a minimum of 3 days but generally we ask that you set aside at least 5-7 days so that weather and other circumstances can be addressed.

Course Price
The PADI Rescue Diver course costs $250.00.

This includes instruction, equipment and certification card. The cost does not include the Rescue Diver Manual ($45 - English Version).

The PADI Medic First course costs $100.00 if required. This price includes instruction and equipment. This price does not include the Medic First Aid Student Training package ($25.00 - English version)
